Advantages and disadvantages: Federal, Confederate and Unitary Systems of Government! The unitary government is often described as a centralized government. It is a government in which all powers held by the government belong to a single, central agency. The majority of all worlds’ governments are Unitary. For example, Great Britain. Some advantages of a Unitary Government are; uniform policies, laws. Enforcement and administration throughout the country. This is a huge beyond huge positive trait of a Unitary Government. Also, there are fewer issues between national and local governments. A unitary Government depicts greater unity and stability too. As far as advantages go, there are disadvantages as well. This government seems to be†¦show more content†¦This means that if the system wanted to create a new law due to things happening within its society, it would be hard to enforce the law because of the weak system. The power is limited, creating it harder for laws to pass as well. A federal government is one in which the powers of government are di vided between a central government and several local governments. An authority superior to both the central and local governments makes this division of powers on a geographic basis; and that division cannot be changed by either the local or national level acting alone. Both levels of government act directly on the people through their own sets of laws, officials, and agencies. A great advantage of this system is that it has a strong federal unity, and the government can actually handle local problems. The government officials also have to respond to the people who elect them, limiting the power to only the government. It can also devote more time to national and international problems as well. The people have more power in this system! Then again a system always has disadvantages too. Like the fact that there are duplications of services, and citizens living in different parts of the country will be treated differently, like what is taught in the schools and in deciding where highw ays and government projects are to be built.
